2022 F1 Race 5: Miami

In the first of two races for the USA in 2022 Miami hosted the fastest cars in the world.

Formula 1 moved into the car park of a Miami Sports Stadium but provided more racing and drama than was expected. Aston Martin were forced to start from the pit lane due to removing and refilling their fuel tanks. RedBull and Ferrari went toe to toe up front while Hamilton found himself struggling and having a light coming together with Alonso. The two would battle for three laps for seventh place with Hamilton becoming the victor. Up front Verstappen snatched the lead on lap 8 and made the move stick.


A huge incident took Norris out of the race on lap 41 after Gasly attempting to move but twitching a little too late after letting another car past and caught the back of the Mclaren. The race was then The safety car remained out until lap 47 when racing got underway with 10 laps to go. Verstappen led after the restart with both Ferraris hunting him down and Perez holding 4th. Bottas was once again outperforming his car and holding 5th ahead of a pair of Mercedes. Bottas was slip up two laps later allowing both the Mercedes past as the silver arrows fought each other wheel to wheel for position. Perez and Sainz created late drama battling for position while further back the two Germans Vettel and Schumacher crashed knocking Vettel out of the race. Russel would eventually get enough space to make a move on his teammate for 5th position. Perez would remain behind Sainz, with his teammate going on to take the chequered flag. LeClerc followed him for second making a double podium for Ferrari, but one place shy than what they would have wanted.
